Nestled in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Pigeon
Forge has long been a destination for families seeking a fun and relaxing
vacation. The area is well-known for its world-class attractions (including
Dollywood), restaurants, shopping and a huge variety of lodging options.
Pigeon Forge is gaining a reputation as a premier destination for both youth
baseball and softball.
Each year traveling teams from across the nation come to the
area to hold tournaments. Just recently hundreds of softball teams participated
in the SEAA World Series held at Wear Farm City Park.
Located just one mile off the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, Wear
Farm City Park, is a beautiful 118 acre multi-purpose facility with five lighted
softball/baseball fields. The configurations of the fields make the park
perfect for hosting tournaments.
Construction has begun on the Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge, a world-class baseball facility featuring six lighted synthetic turf fields
that resemble existing or historic Major and Minor League baseball parks. One
of these will be Oriole Park at Camden Yards, where Cal Ripken Jr. played.
Plans for the facility include a training area, batting
cages, a 14,137-square-foot two-level clubhouse and a 2,749-square-foot
concession/restroom building with an adjacent pavilion.
With plans to open in spring 2016, the Ripken Experience
will be located off of Teaster Lane, just a stone’s throw away from the
Parkway. The facility will sit high above the city allowing the Smoky Mountains
to serve as dramatic backdrop to all the baseball action. Tournaments will be
hard-pressed to find a more beautiful venue anywhere else in the country!
Just across the street from the Ripken Experience sits the
brand new $45 million dollar LeConte Center at Pigeon Forge, a beautiful
multi-purpose events center featuring concourses, meeting rooms, custom
concessions and an event hall with over 100,000 square foot of clear-span
space. Thousands of youth cheerleaders and gymnasts experienced the LeConte
Center this past year, participating in competitions featuring teams from all
over the country. The versatility of the main event hall makes the LeConte
Center a prime location for multiple large assembly youth competitions.
Parents love accompanying their children to tournaments in
Pigeon Forge because it gives them the opportunity to turn youth sports trips into
memorable family vacations!
