Celebrating the People, Heritage, and Culture of the
Great Smoky Mountains Region - Preserving Yesterday's Treasures

Delight in the sights and sounds of the heritage and culture of Appalachian life at the 2nd annual Smoky Mountains Traditions event. Activities include demonstrations of mountain crafts such as basket weaving, dulcimer playing, corn shuck doll making, brook making and lye soap making. New this year will be "StringTime In the Smokies" offering a hands-on study in mountain music in banjo, mandolin, fiddle, mountain dulcimer, guitar and more. Art and Photography Show, Mountain Crafts/Demonstrations, and Old Time Pickin' where you can bring your own instruments and join in, and A Gathering of Mountain Writers where authors will offer talks about their books and our mountain heritage are only a small portion of this exciting event. And Ma's Kitchen will be on hand cooking up some delicious Mountain grub on an old-fashioned wood cook stove outside at the Holiday Inn Resort located at traffic light #6.

Antique Engines will be on display from March 18 - 20 at the Belz Factory
Outlet Mall located on Teaster Lane, and Mountain Music will fill the air
throughout the day on Saturday, March 20th beginning at 11:00 a.m.

StringTime in the Smokies - Smoky Mountains Music School offering an
intensive, hands-on music retreat will be held at the Middlecreek Valley
Chalets from March 18 - 21, 2004.
