A Pigeon Forge Weekend Itinerary the Whole Family Will Love

As summer comes to an end, a long weekend getaway may be just what the family needs! And what better time to visit than for the Total Solar Eclipse on August 21st? This once in a lifetime event is the perfect time to come to Pigeon Forge to unwind and make new memories.

A weekend of quality family time (and one away from all distractions and routines) will have you geared up for back to school and the fall season ahead. Check out this family-friendly itinerary for a long weekend getaway.

After you arrive in town and get checked in to your lodging for the weekend, spending the evening at the Island is the perfect way to get the vacation started! The kids can play in Arcade City, take on the challenge of the Island Ropes Course, or have some fun in the Island Bumper Cars. The adults can hang out in the rocking chairs by the Island Fountains or on the back patio of Ole Smoky Moonshine and listen to the bluegrass music. Before you leave, take a family ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel and enjoy the nighttime view of the Parkway.

Day 1: Start the day off right with a big family style breakfast at Mama’s Farmhouse. Their biscuits, eggs, bacon, sausage, and delicious pinwheels are sure to please the whole table. Next head on over to Patriot Park and catch a ride on the Fun Time Trolley to Dollywood. Spend the day watching shows, riding roller coasters, and just hanging out. After the trolley drops you back off at Patriot Park, walk across the street and finish up the day with a low key dinner at Pottery House Cafe and Grille. Their Fried Green Tomato BLT is a favorite as well as their Loaded Baked Potato Soup in a homemade bread bowl.

Day 2: How do pancakes sound? Sawyer’s Farmhouse has your breakfast needs covered with Hershey’s Chocolate Chip pancakes with a peanut butter syrup or maybe you will just want to try their Pigs-in-a-Blanket. Afterwards, let the kids have some fun at TopJump Trampoline Park. They can do the combo pack and get 1 hour in the Clip and Climb area where they can climb the Stairway to Heaven, and more and then 1 hour in the trampoline park where they can jump, play dodgeball, and even tackle the ninja course. If you are a military family, enjoy 25% off their prices!! In the afternoon, take a drive up to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Grab a to-go lunch or make a trip to the grocery store for some sandwich stuff and then enjoy a little picnic lunch while you are in the park. After all the exploring, everyone will be ready to end the day. Make it fun with a dinner show like Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud. Dinner and a fun show all in one.

If you don’t have to rush out of town your final day, do a little shopping at Stages West or at the Incredible Christmas Place. Maybe even enjoy a late breakfast at Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen before heading out. The kids will be full and will be ready to nap on the ride home.

Before summer ends, before school routines start back up, and before fall moves in, unwind and recharge with your family in Pigeon Forge, the Center of Fun in the Smokies!
