One of the best places to beat the heat is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is always cooler with plenty of shade and the higher up you go, the cooler it gets. Put your swimsuits on and go play in one of the area water attractions like Dollywood’s Splash Country or the H2OGO at the Outdoor Gravity Park. You will get the best of both worlds, outdoor sunshine and plenty of nice cool water. Also, many of the area hotels and condos, have pools or lazy rivers on their properties which makes for a very relaxing way to enjoy the water. Be sure to check out the lazy river at Riverstone Resort and Spa or the big pool at Music Road Resort Hotel.

Take advantage of air conditioning at one of the many indoor attractions or shows. Most of the shows offer an afternoon matinee this time of year which is a great way to beat the heat during the hottest part of the day. You will enjoy the indoor temps even more with some amazing singing, dancing, and comedy. If you really want to cool off, check out the snow at Pigeon Forge Snow. This newest attraction to Pigeon Forge has snow year round! They keep the indoor temps between 60-70 degrees and you can spend your time snow tubing down the hills or making a snowman in the snow play area.  Another fun option is to go feel the freezing water at the Titanic Museum. They have an interactive exhibit where you can feel the actual temperature of the water on the night the ship sank.
