Back to Pigeon Forge
Before School Starts
When “Back to School” publicity starts surfacing, lots of emotions begin to bubble at our house. Sadness because it is time to finish up our summer fun and travels, happiness because it is time to start shopping for school supplies and new school clothes and shoes. Plus eagerness, because we desire a little more rest and relaxation before the routine hustle and bustle begins.
Pigeon Forge is our final summer getaway this year. I plan to do some shopping to knock off some of our back to school list. The little divas just want to have fun and add more family memories for summer break. Dad- well, he is outnumbered and usually just goes along with what all of us girls decide! Yet, he really wants some down time from work and plenty of good food.
I am hoping for lots of sales because that means I can buy more with our money! Kids grow way too fast and it seems like their wardrobes need to be replenished way too often! We are planning on visiting the Belz Outlets. Outlets usually spell deals! Stages West is also on the agenda. I’m sure I can knock off some of the list there but also some things not on our list too!
Secretly, we are going to sneak in some learning to get the girls’ minds back in the “school” mode. The Titanic Museum Attraction is so intriguing with its grandness in size and I love that it has so many interactive stations. The little divas don’t have to know they are learning on top of having fun, right? The Sugarland Visitors Center and Cades Cove over at the Great Smoky Mountain National Park are certain to stir up their inquisitive little minds. They love to search for new types of trees, flowers, and even bugs and animals.
Whether we stay in a cabin or a condo or even a hotel, I am sure we will find dad enjoying his coffee and relaxing on the porch or balcony. He will not be going hungry while we are away, especially with places like the Old Mill and Mama’s Farmhouse. Maybe we can even convince him to take a nice peaceful stroll down by the Little Pigeon River or take in an evening hanging out at the new Hatfield and McCoy dinner show.
Can you tell I’m getting excited? This trip to Pigeon Forge will be the perfect ending of summer getaway and make “Back to School” time much more welcomed.
