Winterfest holiday lights bring a sparkle to Pigeon Forge from early November through the middle of February. To get ready for the magical moment when the light displays are first turned on, we start working in mid-summer, checking millions of light bulbs to ensure all are ready to glow for Winterfest. Once everything is ready to go, it takes approximately two months to put the displays up and about a month to take them down when Winterfest ends.

Locals and guests alike are delighted each year to see the twinkling holiday lights in Pigeon Forge, that literally set the town aglow. If you haven’t yet made it to see the spectacular lights of Smoky Mountain Winterfest, you still have time. Here are a few of the holiday lights in Pigeon Forge you won’t want to miss out on!

  1. Winter Wonderland Bridges

Travel through the bridges of Pigeon Forge, located on Jake Thomas Road and East Wears Valley Road. Twinkling icicles “drip” from the top of the bridges, which are surrounded by towering 35-foot-tall trees.

  1. Old Mill Scene

With more than 6,000 sparkling lights, a spinning waterwheel and a flowing river, it’s easy to see why this display is a long-time favorite of our Winterfest guests. The scene was designed to reflect the city’s own Old Mill, one of Pigeon Forge’s earliest and most iconic businesses.

  1. Patriot Park

Patriot Park is home to the largest collection of Winterfest light displays, all with a distinctly Americana theme. This grouping includes a paddlewheel-driven riverboat, the rolling waves From Sea to Shining Sea, and a multi-display salute to America’s Armed Forces. The display depicting the flag being raised at Iwo Jima stands 40 feet tall.

  1. Old Mill Square Bridge

Pigeon Forge welcomes you to Old Mill Square, with its own version of a covered bridge, one made of thousands of twinkling lights that lead to one of the most historic areas of Pigeon Forge. Old Mill Square is home to one of the oldest businesses in Pigeon Forge. The Mill, built in 1830, still grinds corn and wheat used in today’s recipes at Old Mill Restaurant and Pottery House Café & Grille.

  1. Fairytale Characters Along the Parkway

Nothing stirs up precious childhood memories like the magic of a fairytale, so look for some of your favorite characters as they light up the Pigeon Forge Parkway. You’ll find Mother Goose, the giant clock from Hickory Dickory Dock, the cat and fiddle of Hey Diddle Diddle fame, and Humpty Dumpty, complete with all the king’s horses and all the king’s men. Animation adds to the charm of these displays, so take a moment to watch the stories come to life.

Take in the experience of a traditional Christmas in the Smoky Mountains with Dollywood’s award-winning festival, named the best in America for over a decade. Gaze in awe at over 5 million glistening lights during Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas, and for the first time ever, fireworks that light up the sky.

Here are just a few of the ways Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas is lighting up the winter night sky this holiday season.

Stroll through a winter wonderland at Glacier Ridge

Glacier Ridge is Dollywood’s largest Christmas expansion since the festival began in 1990! The area stretches from Timber Canyon to the top of Craftsman’s Valley (it mirrors the footsteps of Great Pumpkin LumiNights). This amazing winter experience is sure to inspire and delight guests both young and old alike.

See a dazzling Christmas tree light show

One of the highlights of Glacier Ridge is the Wonderful Christmas! tree show located in The Plaza at Wilderness Pass. The tree stands 50-feet tall (even taller if you count the star on top) and is much different from any Christmas tree you will ever come across. Beginning at 6 p.m. every night (and every half hour after that), the tree sparkles to life to present a fully-synchronized, dazzling light show! Everything about this tree is far more than you can imagine: the animation, twinkling lights, the music. Even snow begins to fall during the performance to create a winter wonderland experience you’ll never forget.

Experience the Northern Lights

Dollywood Northern Lights

One of the must-see displays at Dollywood is the Northern Lights! It’s Tennessee’s take on aurora and it’s absolutely breathtaking. Situated between the Tennessee Tornado and Blazing Fury ride, take a leisurely stroll through this area with a hot chocolate in hand. You will be left in complete awe!

Soar above the lights on night rides at Dollywood

Dollywood Christmas Mystery Mine

Roller coasters are fun during the day, but even better at night. Pick your favorite rides and soar above Dollywood, getting a glimpse of the 5 million lights throughout the park. As always, guests can experience Dollywood’s world-class rides amidst the hustle and bustle of the park during the holidays, as most rides are operational during the Christmas season. Nothing compares to racing quickly through the night sky with millions of lights twinkling below.

Note: For guests’ safety, some attractions may not be operating due to low temperatures.

Stay at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort & Spa for an even more special holiday experience

Make your visit to Pigeon Forge even more special by staying at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort & Spa. This 300-room resort is the perfect location for a Smoky Mountain holiday vacation with its luxurious accommodations, indoor and outdoor pools, unique restaurant experience and full-service spa.

In addition to being loaded with amenities, the entire resort is exquisitely decorated for the holiday season. Watch the video above to get the inside scoop from the team that decorates Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort & Spa each year.

Dolly Parton knows how to bring the entertainment to Pigeon Forge. While her dinner show at Dolly Parton’s Stampede is a fan-favorite year-round, the Christmas show is truly something captivating! From twinkling lights to magnificent show horses and the amazing live nativity scene, this is a holiday show for the books. Ready to make forever holiday memories with your family?

Welcome to a Smoky Mountain Fantasyland

Make Christmas At Dolly Parton’s Stampede Part of Your Family Tradition

Each November, the Stampede arena is magically transformed into a fantasyland with evergreens, poinsettias, old-fashioned holiday costumes, and twinkling lights. The holiday experience is enhanced by the state-of-the-art, LED wall in the show’s 35,000-square-foot arena. Guests will instantly feel as if they are experiencing the natural beauty of Christmas from the foothills surrounding the Great Smoky Mountains, while looking into the clear skies above Bethlehem on the night of Jesus’ birth.

The Battle of the North and South Pole

Everyone loves some friendly competition, right? Christmas at Dolly Parton’s Stampede features a playful twist with a friendly rivalry between elves in the North and South! 32 magnificent horses will race one another as audience members cheer their respective sides of the North Pole and South Pole to victory. Both sides win at the end of the day, as musical productions of Christmas classics will dazzle the audience. Even Santa makes an appearance, arriving in his sleigh and turning the fantasyland into a Winter Wonderland complete with snowfall.

The True Meaning of The Season

Marvel at the Live Nativity - Christmas at Dolly Parton’s Stampede

The true meaning of the season will come alive right before your eyes! You’ll marvel at the live nativity, a portrayal that is both dramatic and spectacular. Three kings arrive atop real camels while shepherds guide their flock, all reminding you of the spirit of the season. Did we mention the arena brings in 32 horses for this special show as well?

Enjoy the Holiday Cheer and Feast on a 4-Course Meal

We hope you come hungry for the 4-course dinner feast, because it is fit for a king! Your plates and tummies will be full after a delicious meal that includes a whole rotisserie chicken, hickory-smoked barbecue pork loin, herb-basted potato, buttery corn on the cob, creamy vegetable soup, and a homemade biscuit. Then, top it all off with a sweet treat – an apple turnover. TIP: Dunk your biscuit in the soup for maximum enjoyment!

The holidays are the most special time of year for families, and we hope you make Dolly Parton’s Stampede part of your annual family tradition. Get your tickets and see why Christmas at Dolly Parton’s Stampede is The Smokies #1 Choice For The Holidays!®
