Each season in the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee is truly unique, and springtime is one of our favorites! From the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains that come to life to the new attractions, shows and restaurants that line the Parkway, there is so much waiting to be explored. Check out these five fun things to do this spring in Pigeon Forge.

Family Posting for Photo at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge

  1. Kick Off the Season at Dollywood

Dollywood re-opens for the season in March with the kick-off of Festival of Nations. There will be great shows, music, food, and art from around the world. Hours of entertainment and fun await the entire family. Whether you choose to take a relaxing train ride on the Dollywood Express, catch one of the first class shows, or take a daredevil ride on the Wild Eagle, Dollywood is definitely one of the best things to do in Pigeon Forge this spring!

Tip: Take the kids to see Dollywood’s Wildwood Grove, one of the parks newest expansions. They’re sure to love the 50-foot Wildwood Tree that comes to life at night with hundreds of multi-colored beautiful butterflies.

Family Visiting Great Smoky Mountain National Park

  1. Go on a Spring Hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

One of the most beautiful spots to visit during Spring is Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It’s the perfect time to see the transition of the seasons. As the temperatures begin to rise, spring wildflowers begin to blossom while the trees are replenished with green foliage, painting the area with an array of vibrant colors. Spring hikes in the national park offer one of the best ways to experience this beauty first-hand. And with the wildlife also beginning to emerge from their winter respites, it’s the perfect opportunity to spot deer, turkeys or even bears.

Tip: A hike up to Clingmans Dome will be well worth the effort. As the highest point in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the views from the observation tower are some of the best in the park. Note: While the observation tower is open year-round, Clingmans Dome Road is closed from December 1 through March 31, and whenever weather conditions require.

Mom Climbing at Paula Deen's Lumberjack Feud Show and Adventure Park

  1. Try Out Your Lumberjack Moves at the Lumberjack Feud Show & Adventure Park

One of the best things to do any time of year in Pigeon Forge is to see any one of the award-winning shows. Paula Deen’s Lumberjack Feud Show and Adventure Park is one of the more recent additions to a stellar lineup of shows. Watch the Dawson and McGraw families compete in lumberjack events such as axe throwing, log rolling and more. Then after the show, try out some lumberjack moves of your own at their lumberjack themed adventure park. Try speed climbing, log rolling, a ropes course, 80-foot jump tower and much more!

Tip: Get $3 off per person at Lumberjack Feud. Just use the coupon found in the back of the 2020 Pigeon Forge Travel Guide.

Family Visiting Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge TN

  1. Explore Artifacts and Exhibits at Titanic Museum Attraction

Titanic Museum Attraction is a real-life replica of the grand RMS Titanic. It houses over 400 artifacts throughout 20 different galleries with interactive exhibits that let you experience life as it was aboard the real Titanic. Visit the Titanic during ‘Irish Month,’ a celebration and tribute to the Irish that takes place the entire month of March. Or make plans to take your group on a historical adventure during one of the Titanic Flashlight Tours scheduled to take place during March.

Tip: Visit the Titanic website and purchase a Titanic and Dollywood combo package to save on tickets to both the Titanic Museum and Dollywood.

Family on Ride at The Island in Pigeon Forge

  1. Spend a Day at The Island in Pigeon Forge

The Island in Pigeon Forge is another great option for family fun and entertainment during Spring in Pigeon Forge. The Island Fountains are a great spot for just hanging out and regrouping, while the Island Mirror Maze and Arcade City are top choices for things to do with the kids. Then kick back and relax on island time with dinner and drinks at the Margaritaville Restaurant and first-class accommodations at the Margaritaville Island Hotel. With so many entertainment, food and shopping options, you’ll find something to suit everyone.

Tip: Make sure to add a ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel to your to-do list. The views of the Smoky Mountains during Spring from the top of the wheel are some of the best you’ll find in Pigeon Forge. And you’ll find a coupon for $2 off each ride purchased for the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel in the back of the 2020 Pigeon Forge Travel Guide.
