Elvis Museum and Gift Shops
The little divas had no idea who“The King” was; however, mom and dad decided there needed to be a little education on this vacation!! So, we decided to make a stop at the Elvis Museum and Gift Shops. This Pigeon Forge museum is said to house the world’s largest private collection of Elvis memorabilia. What a great opportunity for Jellybean and Peanut to learn a little about “The King of Rock n Roll!!
Of course, the sounds of Elvis music were echoing as we entered the museum. Dad and Jellybean quickly picked up a pair of Elvis-like shades and were goofing off while mom purchased the tickets. The tour is self guided so we entered and casually began our lesson on “The King.” Inside, we found exhibits on Elvis’ sports days, his married days, as well as his tour days. His personal belongings and interests, gold jewelry, and clothing were nicely displayed along with pictures and information scripts that provided history on the articles. Best of all, two of his cars were on display!! There was a white Lincoln Continental stretch limo that was his last personal limo before he died as well as a red Cadillac Coupe de Ville that was used on Elvis and Priscilla’s honeymoon. The little divas were excited by a monogrammed bathrobe that was his daughter Lisa Marie’s and I loved seeing some of the fancy leisure suits that he wore in his shows. Another interesting piece was an ice bucket that was used at Elvis and Priscilla’s wedding.
Next, we hit the gift shops. This would have to be a piece of heaven for any Elvis lover!!! Lots of Elvis collectibles along with apparel and accessories fill the store. This would be a great stop if you need a gift for an Elvis lover or if you just want to add to your own personal collection. We had to quickly hurry through as I felt like a mother with two “bulls in a china cabinet” and did not want to have to purchase any broken items!
“The King of Rock n Roll” is a legend. We had fun remembering him and giving Jellybean and Peanut a little history lesson!!!
