Tourist Tuesday: July 16

Grant Family's Pigeon Forge VacationIt’s Tourist Tuesday again! Today’s featured guests, the Grant family, came all the way from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Grants have been to Pigeon Forge several times before. In fact, they said this was quite possibly their fourth or fifth trip.

When I asked what exactly it was that inspired them to continue returning to Pigeon Forge for their vacations I got a wealth of answers.

“I like Dollywood,” Mr. Grant said. “The Country music and the shows. Not the rides so much, but we love the shows.” I informed them that they had picked a good time to go to Dollywood because the park is in the middle of their Great American Summer event.

“For me it’s the outlet malls,” said Mrs. Grant. This is certainly understandable as Pigeon Forge has earned a reputation as a shopper’s paradise. “Shop and eat. They’ve got great food and great stores.”

The Grants said that they had eaten at the Old Mill Restaurant several times over the years and it has become one of their favorite places to dine while vacationing.

They also said that they’ve taken the short trip up to the Smokies a few times during their visits. “We’ve driven through Cades Cove and loved it,” Mrs. Grant said.

The couple arrived on Sunday and said they were here for just a very short stay before they would return to Indiana. The Grants know a short stay in Pigeon Forge is alright when you know you’ll be coming back for a fifth or sixth time very soon!
