Tourist Tuesday: June 4
Our visitors for this week’s edition of Tourist Tuesday are first time visitors of Pigeon Forge and they came all the way from New York!
I could tell the members of the Murray family were definitely not from the South as soon as I heard their accents. They informed me that they were natives of New York and that this was their first time ever being in the state of Tennessee.
They had just come into town in the middle of the week and said that their main inspiration for visiting was to check out Dollywood.
“We’re very excited,” they said. “We want to see the all the different shows.”
The Murrays said they had visited several candy stores during their stay. “We watched them make funnel cakes, and taffies, all sorts of candy. The funnel cakes were great.”
The family is staying at a nearby hotel and informed me that they had seen a giant nest in one of the trees outside and were hoping that it was an eagle’s nest. They were delighted when I told them about the bald eagle exhibit at Dollywood. They also plan on driving through the loop at Cades Cove to see all the various wildlife there.
“Another thing that we loved was the trolleys. It’s a great deal. Our driver was like a tour guide. It was like a little 50 cent tour!” they said.
The Murrays are a perfect example of how people come from literally across the country to see what Pigeon Forge has to offer.
