Tourist Tuesday: November 5

It’s time for Tourist Tuesday once again! Today’s guest, Greg Dobbs, comes from Decatur, Alabama. Greg and his wife Cheryl are here on vacation for the fourth time in six years.

“We travel a lot and Pigeon Forge is one of those places that we have on our list,” said Greg. “Usually the fall is when we try to come up. It’s beautiful.”

Greg was certainly right in his statement. The Smokies are at their absolute peak for fall color. He said he and his wife have taken a couple drives through the park during their stay and have thoroughly enjoyed it.  “The leaves are absolutely breathtaking. We went to Cades Cove and some those sights were unbelievable.”

The first week of November is usually the peak week for leaf coloration, particularly at elevations below 4,000 feet. The yellow, red and orange shades mixed in with the evergreens are brilliant right now. Greg also said that he and his wife love to eat out at restaurants while they’re in town. “We went to [JT] Hannah’s last night and it was really good.”

When I spoke to Greg he was taking a stroll along the Riverwalk while his wife did some shopping at the area outlet malls. “She lives and breathes to shop,” Greg said. “I try to stay away from that scene. She can handle the shopping and I’ll handle the eating,” he said with a laugh.
