Inaugural Holiday Show Premieres Nov. 1 at Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show in Pigeon Forge

Pigeon Forge, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2019) – After a highly successful opening season, Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. prepares to sail into the holidays with a new Christmas show that offers a spectacular swashbuckling spin on “A Christmas Carol” with Captain Scrooge and his cavalier crew.

The premiere of this holiday show promises to be a Christmas adventure unlike anything else experienced in the Smokies this yuletide season. Opening on Friday, Nov. 1 and continuing through January 4, 2020, Pirates Voyage combines a classic Christmas tale with a bountiful feast that will join together a pirate’s “Yo Ho” with the season’s “Ho Ho Ho.”

“We invite swashbucklers of all ages to start a new Christmas tradition for the holidays like no one else can offer,” said Jeff Thomas, General Manager of Pirates Voyage. “Where else can families come together and create memories that will last long after the holidays are gone—with pirates, acrobatics, a special delicious meal, a classic holiday story with its own special pirate twist and angels helping bring about the true meaning of Christmas in our Nativity. As we like to say, it’s a Holly Jolly Roger Christmas event!”

During Christmas at Pirates Voyage, high tide meets the yuletide in this new show that offers a variety of holiday fun and entertainment that will make for lasting holiday memories for everyone who attends. The Mystical Christmas Spirit takes the captain through time and space to find the true meaning of Christmas, including a “dream” where giant toys come to life and perform amazing acrobatics high above the indoor lagoon. Other adventures during this holiday experience at Pirates Voyage include a live Nativity, an angel with a special message and a comical Christmas castaway and her sea lion companion. Holiday guests also will be thrilled by an epic battle between the crimson and emerald pirates as they compete for the coveted Christmas treasure on land, on deck, in water and high above two pirate ships.

The adventure actually begins in the Pirates Village, where younger swashbucklers as well as parents and grandparents can “Join the Christmas Crew” and be transformed into mermaids and pirates before the main show begins. The four-course holiday feast straight from Captain Blackbeard’s yuletide galley makes Pirates Voyage the most unique place to eat in the Smokies. The meal begins with Voyager creamy vegetable soup and a homemade buccaneer biscuit. The feast fit for a pirate continues with cracklin’ pan-fried chicken, sugar cured ham, matey’s mac ‘n’ cheese, and Jolly Roger sweet potato souffle. Walk the plank peach turnover and unlimited Coca-Cola® products, tea or coffee complete the meal. Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are available by request.

Costuming Brings Characters To Life At New Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show in Pigeon Forge

New Show Sets Sail This Friday, May 24

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Thursday, May 23, 2019) – If it’s a pirate’s life for you, you have to look and dress the part. No one knows that better than the professional costuming team getting the cast and crew ready for the debut of Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show in Pigeon Forge, which officially opens this Friday, May 24.

From pirate captains to many other colorful characters setting sail in this pirate adventure, the costumes for this crew are all ship-shape and sure to impress audiences and set the mood for the swashbuckling storyline. Every costume has been custom-designed and fabricated in-house for each individual performer, including embellishments fitting to the specific character.

In excess of 800 yards of specialized fabric was used to make the show’s costumes, and more than 1800 hours over the course of several months were spent designing, creating and bringing the Pirates Voyage unique look to life. The specialty costumes for the mermaids took a minimum 40 hours each to fabricate, and multiple outfits are necessary for each performer per show.  The swords, all custom-designed and custom-made, are unique to each character and took eight weeks to complete just for the Pirates Voyage show.

The design, development, and fabrication of all aspects of costuming took shape under the direction and supervision of Corporate Director of Productions Clare Lewis, who said that the show’s costumes are key to immersing the audience in their own Pirates Voyage.

“These costumes dress up our characters and truly bring the pirates experience to life,” Lewis said. “Our dedicated and hardworking professional costuming team began work in late 2018.  The attention to every detail to make sure that each ensemble worn throughout the show adds to the overall experience of what life is like in this action-packed adventure world. It has been all hands on deck to complete this amazing costuming feat!”

Pirates Voyage construction phase is a $9 million project, in addition to the initial investment in the property for a total of $28 million. Reservations are now being taken for all 2019 shows; ticket information is available at piratesvoyage.com or by calling 865-505-AHOY (2469).

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Oct. 4, 2018)–Keep an eye to the spyglass, mateys; Dolly’s pirates will be searching for treasure in the Great Smoky Mountains next summer!

After nearly a decade of rave reviews and financial success on the Carolina coast, Dolly Parton’s newest Pirates Voyage dinner attraction is slated to open in the spring. “The show has been so successful in Myrtle Beach that we kept looking at Pigeon Forge and wondering why we didn’t already have a Pirates show there,” Parton said. “We have the perfect location, in one of the hottest areas of Pigeon Forge, and the time is now for my pirates to stake claim to the Great Smoky Mountains!”

When complete, the 21,000-square-foot arena, adjacent to The Island in Pigeon Forge, will be the stage for Crimson and Sapphire pirates to battle on deck, in the water and in the sky above their full-sized pirate ships in a 15-foot-deep indoor lagoon. Spectacular acrobatic competitions, live animals and an original music score by Parton and Mark Brymer creates an immersive adventure experience all while guests enjoy a spectacular four-course pirate feast.

“We’re glad we can finally share Dolly’s exciting news,” Jim Rule, World Choice Investments CEO said.  “For some time, we have been working on set and costume designs, unique show elements for this theater, and animal and staff training. We’re all looking forward to opening in 2019.”

The new Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group production will include a retractable water stage that will be the largest in the Southeast. The show will feature moving ships complete with brand new technology that is being designed just for this project.  The show will also include actors, stunt divers, acrobats, singers, dancers and live animals.

In addition to the massive changes within the building, the exterior is also slated for proposed upgrades pending approval from the city.  “I’m really excited about the addition of the moat and drawbridge going into the front doors, said David Fee.  “We plan to incorporate special effects in the theming of the outside as well as the inside.”

To incorporate the food aspect, a kitchen will be added to the inside of the theater to make way for the dinner portion of the show.  The existing theater seats will be removed and tables will be placed in the theater.

Magic Beyond Belief starring Darren Romeo will move across the street from The Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud to its own stand-alone theater and will open in March 2019.  The company hopes to keep The Smoky Mountain Opry Show and move it to a different location to be announced at a later date.
