PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017) – Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Adventures Dinner & Show continues its inaugural season with a new holiday tale that invites families on a journey that brings together special Christmas memories and magic that shaped Dolly and her family. The new show, which opened Friday, Nov. 3 and continues through Dec. 31, allows guests to make wonderful holiday memories and discover the true spirit of Christmas.

The combination of festive holiday music, two million dollars in special effects, acrobatic feats from both performers and the show’s canine stars, a mischievous elf, a series of “reindeer games,” a moving live nativity, an ice skating spectacular, and many other unexpected  surprises combine for a one-of-a-kind, “must see” show.  This exciting new Christmas adventure is set in a small town that’s hit by a major snowstorm, which leaves the fate of the town’s Christmas celebration in the balance. The audience journeys with the cast to learn whether their Christmas will be cancelled or whether the storm sets the stage for the most miraculous Christmas ever.

Elements of the regular show that have proven to be audience favorites this season will take on a holiday flair and deliver a joyful treat for the senses, including the Chinese poles, aerial silks suspended three stories above the stage and in the amazing Electro-wheel. An exclusive Smoky Mountain Adventures version of The Nutcracker and fun with the classic “12 Days of Christmas” are sure to become audience favorites. The show concludes with a moving seasonal rendition of the mountain classic “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” and a Christmas light spectacular and special effects transform the town scenery into a captivating Winter Wonderland.

“Thanks to the powerful story of when Dolly’s parents met and fell in love, Smoky Mountain Adventures has experienced an amazing debut season,” said Jamie Parish, General Manager of Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Adventures. “We are excited about sharing more of this special story in our new holiday show, inspired by heartfelt moments that will capture the simple joys of Christmas.  Our entire cast is looking forward to sharing this new component of Dolly’s family story – we know it will become a new holiday tradition for the families that come to experience it.”

Another star of this yuletide show is the food, which is a mouthwatering feast of magnificent proportions. This Smoky Mountain holiday feast treats guests to tantalizing tastes inspired by some of Dolly’s favorite holiday recipes:  a special holiday soup recipe, homemade buttery biscuits, spiral ham, pan fried chicken, old fashioned Southern dressing, a sweet potato treat, buttery corn on the cob, and Southern Peach Pie for dessert. America’s Favorite Christmas Event Begins at Dollywood on Nov. 4

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Wednesday, November 1, 2017) — Earlier this season, Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana celebrated its tenth consecutive victory in Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Awards. Once guests experience the park’s festive holiday atmosphere for themselves, they understand why Dollywood has earned the award for the last decade.

Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas (Nov. 4, 2017 – Jan. 1, 2018) kicks off the holiday season with its signature light displays, family-favorite shows, delectable food and warm Christmas spirit. The awe-inspiring Parade of Many Colors returns for its second season, while traditional holiday performances—including Christmas in the Smokies and It’s a Wonderful Life—and four million festive lights delight guests during this lively festival.

“There is no time of the year that is more special to me than Christmas,” Dolly Parton explained. “Some of the best memories of my life are from my time spent with family and friends celebrating Christmas together. It’s when we all come together to enjoy sweet traditions and the warm love of family and to have those special experiences we’ll always remember.

“Now when we were growing up, we never could have imagined millions of Christmas lights or even a life-size Rudolph. But I know the families who come to visit my Dollywood this Christmas will leave with wonderful memories they’ll treasure forever—just like me and my family.”

Dollywood—which earned its ninth consecutive Golden Ticket Award for Best Shows—continues to provide guests with classic Christmas entertainment which brings the holidays to life! Based on the timeless holiday story of love and generosity, It’s a Wonderful Life follows small town businessman George Bailey as he discovers the true value of life, family and friends with a little help from his guardian angel, Clarence. One of Dollywood’s greatest entertainment offerings, Christmas in the Smokies, returns to D.P.’s Celebrity Theater and serves as the headline show for the festival. Guests can celebrate the joy of the season while a cast of singers and dancers performs hometown holiday favorites accompanied by a band of live musicians!

After a successful debut season in 2016, the crowd-favorite Parade of Many Colors returns to celebrate the fun, faith, family and harmony of the holiday season. The parade features whimsical floats, interactive characters and a heart-warming, cheerful message for Dollywood guests to enjoy.

Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, the beloved Christmas television special, again comes to life at Dollywood this season. Guests can meet Rudolph and his friends, including Clarice, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster and Yukon Cornelius in Rudolph’s Holly Jolly ™ Junction, a magical area where festive fun awaits. After meeting Rudolph and his friends, families can head to Clarice’s kitchen to decorate custom Christmas cookies or even take part in a few reindeer games!

Dollywood’s entertainment features several other beloved shows this season, including An Appalachian Christmas, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, O’ Holy Night, My People and Christmas with The Kingdom Heirs. Guests also can experience Santa Land, a whimsical workshop where the smallest guests can share their wish list with Kris Kringle.

Families can finish their visit with a traditional Christmas meal as several of Dollywood’s menus feature holiday-themed items. Among the new offerings this year is the Thanksgiving Feast sandwich—a ciabatta roll filled with cornbread dressing, slices of oven-roasted turkey breast, topped with cranberry sauce and served with sweet potato tater tots. Returning favorites include turkey and dressing, Christmas ham, chicken and dumplings, Cornish hens, center cut pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot flavored drinks like wassail, Mayfield hot chocolate and cider, and much more. Holiday desserts available throughout the park include gingerbread man cookies, red velvet and pumpkin spice funnel cakes.

Smoky Mountain Christmas guests can upgrade a paid one-day admission ticket to a regular 2018 season pass for as low as $30 (plus tax when buying four or more). Ticket purchasers receive credit for the value of a regular one-day ticket ($69) toward the purchase of a 2018 season pass. A season pass purchased during Smoky Mountain Christmas provides unlimited admission to this year’s Christmas festival along with Dollywood’s entire 2018 season. Additionally, for each child’s season pass purchased, families will receive a copy of Parton’s newest children’s album, “I Believe in You.” (A one-day ticket is valid for upgrade on the day of visit only.)

Dollywood Earns Four Golden Ticket Awards

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Sunday, September 10, 2017)—The winningest park in Amusement Today’s Golden Tickets history, Dollywood again this year earned more category wins and finalist positions than any other park in the world. Dollywood picked up four “best of” awards and placed in the top-five in five additional categories during the magazine’s 2017 awards ceremony on Saturday, Sept.9 at Lake Compounce amusement park in Bristol, Connecticut.

“You all know how very proud I am of my Dollywood and the special folks who work there,” Dolly Parton said. “It makes me feel so good to know that our guests feel the same way about the park when they come visit us. It’s the perfect place to help them make those memories they’re always going to hold close. Our people do a great job of doin’ just what my mama always used to say—they treat our guests just like they’d want to be treated. And isn’t that what really makes the difference?

“Families can feel the love our folks have for them by the effort and attention they put in to every single detail of the park. They want to make sure every guest leaves with a smile on their face. Dollywood will continue to grow, but I’m thankful my team will never forget what got us to where we are:  going above and beyond to give our guests experiences they’ll always remember.”

Dollywood’s four Golden Ticket Awards include:

·         Friendliest Park, for the sixth consecutive year;

·         Best Shows, Dollywood’s ninth consecutive win;

·         Best Christmas Event, the only park to ever earn this award, Dollywood celebrates its tenth consecutive win;

·         Best Food, Dollywood’s fourth victory in this category.

Dollywood also had top-ten positions in five additional categories:

·   Cleanest Park, second place;

·   Best Park, third place;

·   Best Water Park for Dollywood’s Splash Country, fourth place;

·   Best Landscaping, fourth place;

·   Best Wooden Coaster for Lightning Rod, fifth place;

·   Best Wooden Coaster for Thunderhead, eighth place.

“It has been incredibly exciting to watch Dollywood — which was a relatively unknown contender when the Golden Ticket Awards started in 1998 — become this theme park industry powerhouse,” noted Tim Baldwin, Golden Ticket Awards Communications Coordinator for Amusement Today. “Dollywood not only places as a finalist in more categories than any other park, it has taken top prize in four categories — again, more than any other park. Dollywood is setting the bar, and other parks would be wise to look at their example. It’s certainly a park to watch.”

Calculated from an international poll conducted by Amusement Today, the industry’s leading trade publication, the Golden Ticket Awards are the results of a detailed survey sent to a database of experienced and well-traveled amusement park fans around the world in balanced geographical regions. Voters are asked to rate the “best” in a number of categories such as best parks, roller coasters, water rides, shows, kids’ area, landscaping and Christmas events.

“Dollywood is the whole package — great food, entertaining shows, friendly hospitality and great rides,” Baldwin continued. “It’s little surprise to see them capture the attention of our voters. Each year, our selected panel has an incredible amount of worldwide experience, so to be honored on a worldwide scale in so many categories is an amazing accomplishment.”

The Golden Ticket Awards are the most sought after awards in the business of amusements and attractions. The awards have become the subject of much discussion by park aficionados the world over and garnered mentions in such notable media outlets as USA Today and the Chicago Tribune, and by the late radio newsman Paul Harvey. The awards also were the topic of a one-hour Travel Channel documentary.

This season has been a banner year for the Pigeon Forge attraction. Dollywood was recognized as the third best theme park in the country by voters in USA Today’s 10Best contest, while Dollywood’s Splash Country was recognized as the eighth best water park. The National Amusement Park Historical Association also named Dollywood as their “Favorite Theme Park” this year. Dollywood edged Walt Disney World for first, a position the Florida attraction had held for thirteen consecutive years. The NAPHA also honored Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas as their “Favorite Post-Summer Season Amusement Park Event.” Fox News recognized the park as the top Small Town Theme Park thanks to its location in the foothills of the Smokies.

 Pigeon Forge, Tenn., June 7, 2017 –The Comedy Barn® Theater’s all new original “Amazing Animals” ™ matinee show in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., is back for a second summer season.  “Amazing Animals” ™ features trained pigs, parrots, housecats, dogs and a mini-donkey all performing together in a pet show at The Comedy Barn® Theater at 2 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  The show runs through Saturday, Aug. 12.

“Animals are the most amazing creatures and our ‘Amazing Animals’ Pet Show features animal antics, zany comedy and a cast of fuzzy, furry, feathered and four legged friends,” said David Fee, president and chief executive officer of The Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group and co-owner of The Comedy Barn® Theater.  “We have a wonderful mix of music, comedy, mayhem and animals.”

“Come experience our ‘Amazing Animals’ show,” said Jim Hedrick, co-owner of The Comedy Barn Theater.  “We are very pleased to add to the cast this year the remarkable ventriloquist talent of Kyle Scribner. Kyle has some amazing animal puppets which come to life, and they will make you laugh until you cry.”

Hedrick said, “We have also added two new trained pigs to the cast this year that will leave you dazed and amazed.  You will love the showdown between the “Hatdawgs and the McCaws.”

Anthony, Alena King and their trained “comedy critters” perform in the “Amazing Animals” ™ pet show. They have performed at The Comedy Barn® Theater for the last four years.  They have appeared on Animal Planet’s “Pet Star,”  “The Tonight Show,” and at theme parks, festivals, fairs, pet expos, conventions and corporate events across the country. They have also performed in theaters in Branson, Mo., in “The Comedy Pet Variety Show” in Lakeland, Fla., as well as in the Royal Hanneford Circus.

“Tony and Alena King are bringing back their amazing animal act to The ‘Amazing Animal’ Pet Show,” Fee said.  “Tony and Alena are phenomenally talented animal trainers and performers, and it is incredible what their animals can do.  Tony and Alena have a unique, family friendly act that combines their extraordinary pets with magic, acrobatics and audience participation. They have rescued most of these animals from shelters all over the country, and now they are Pigeon Forge stars.

“Come see Tony’s mini pigs ham it up at The Comedy Barn,” Fee said.  “These pigs can even check the mail!”  Pig stars Boris Bacon and Jessie Ham perform comedy, do flag rising, hurdle jumping, mail checking, ball playing, bell ringing and pig waltzing, and they even roll out the red carpet!

Ten high-diving domestic housecats all perform in a comedy routine. They jump through hoops, zig zag, do a high step routine, balance on an Olympic pole, upside-down walk, do super jumps, and they even do a high diving stunt.

Fee said, “Also starring in The Amazing Animals show at The Comedy Barn Theater is a Comedy Barn Canine act where the dogs do hurdle jumps and barrel rolls, they roll over, they do a hind leg stand and they even jump rope.”

Charlie the communicating mini-donkey is another part of “The Amazing Animals” ™  show.  “Charlie is the only donkey in Pigeon Forge who understands humans,” Fee said.  “The audience can watch him shake his head yes or no to their questions. He can also add, subtract and even guess people’s age.

“This show also has trained birds,” said Fee.  “Come see birds flying through rings right over your head,” Fee said.  “They also do comedy, skate, ride scooters and bicycles, perform on the high wire, dance, pull carts, see-saw, do foot juggling, fly through rings and many other feats.”

King is a former accomplished aerialist and high wire walker. “We are animal lovers,” King said. His wife, Alena, is originally from Russia and attended circus school in Russia.  She is a former aerialist and fire spinner.
