Dollywood’s Splash Country Hosts Annual Ronald McDonald Day

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (Aug. 22, 2017) — End the summer with a splash, and in the process support sick children and their families. Dollywood’s Splash Country and WIVK are partnering once again to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Knoxville. Ronald McDonald House’s mission is to aid families with critically-ill children who are being treated in area hospitals. During this event, the first 600 guests who mention Ronald McDonald House at the water park before noon on Saturday, Aug. 26 will receive 50% off a regular or child admission ticket.

One-hundred percent of the funds raised for this special event benefit Ronald McDonald House of Knoxville as it serves as a home away from home for families during their time of treatment.

“The Dollywood Company believes strongly in being a great community partner,” explained Dollywood’s Splash Country General Manager Janet Dawson. “As a water park, we look forward to our partnership with Ronald McDonald House every year. Splash Country is all about family time and that’s what Ronald McDonald House is trying to restore—they’re supporting families through tough times and trying to get them back to normalcy. What a great mission.”

Sue Beverly, Director of Ronald McDonald House added, “Thousands of lives are impacted each year by the services we offer at our wonderful house—services that are a direct result of the loving support so graciously offered by our community and our friends at Splash Country.”

Since 2003, Dollywood’s Splash Country has donated more than $347,000 to the non-profit through special events, promotions and monetary donations.

This season, Dollywood’s Splash Country extended its operating calendar with several additional days. Grand Ole Opry Stars Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers Headline Pigeon Forge’s Patriot Festival

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (June 19, 2013) – Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers will deliver some of the tightest family harmonies in the music industry before the night sky lights up with July 4 fireworks at Patriot Festival in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Patriot Festival is a free, city-sponsored afternoon and evening of music, kids’ games, food vendors and, of course, a spectacular pyrotechnic show. The towering ridges of Great Smoky Mountains National Park provide the backdrop for the event.

Larry, Steve and Rudy Gatlin won their first talent contest in 1954 in their hometown of Abilene, Texas, when they were ages six, four and two.

Since then, they have recorded a major string of hits – including the No. 1 single “Broken Lady” – and performed around the world. They became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 1976.

Patriot Festival will fill Patriot Park in the heart of Pigeon Forge. Other musical performers are Hotel California “A Salute to the Eagles,” the country and gospel Shelby Huskey Band and the Pigeon Forge Community Chorus.

A kids’ play area and food vendors open at noon, and the music begins at 1:30 p.m. The Gatlins’ appearance is at 8:30 p.m., and the fireworks start at 9:45 p.m.

The 20-minute fireworks show, one of Tennessee’s largest for Independence Day, will be visible throughout Pigeon Forge, and Knoxville radio station WIVK-FM will broadcast a soundtrack to accompany the show.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and sunscreen. Proceeds from sales at the various food vendors support local non-profit organizations.

Handicapped parking will be available at Patriot Park. Other parking will be at the city’s parking facility on Teaster Lane. Guests who park there can hop a free Fun Time Trolley to the festival or walk the Pigeon Forge Greenway along the Little Pigeon River to Patriot Park.

Information about all aspects of visiting Pigeon Forge is available online at or by calling toll-free to 1-800-251-9100.
