Titanic Honors all Nurses!

In honor of National Nurses Week,TITANIC Museum Attraction is offering a special discount from May 5 – May 11 for all nurses who come to visit our museum. All Nurses will receive complimentary admission with purchase of an adult ticket and valid ID.

In honor of all nurses, here’s a little Titanic trivia for everyone… 

How many nurses were on board the Titanic?
There were 7 confirmed Nurses & Future Nurses on Titanic:

  • Violet Jessop: Served as a nurse on the hospital ship Britannic during WWI
  • Caroline Endres: Trained nurse who served as the nursemaid of Madeleine Astor
  • Susan Ryerson: Later trained and served as a bacteriologist during WWI
  • Evelyn Marsden: Trained nurse who boarded Titanic as a Stewardess
  • Elizbeth Burns: Trained nurse who served as the nursemaid of Robert Spedden
  • Edith Pears: Served as a nurse and drove an ambulance for the British Red Cross during WWI
  • Lucy Ridsdale: Trained nurse who had worked in a nursing home

How many of the nurses survived?
All 7 of the Nurses listed above survived.

Where was a hospital room on Titanic?
There was one main hospital for passengers in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Class, located near the middle of the starboard side of D Deck. It included an infectious hospital that had a separate ventilation system for quarantine needs. The crew had its own hospital on C Deck.

There were no actual surgeries performed on the ship.
