The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced I-40, near mile marker 450 in Cocke County, is temporarily closed, due to a rockslide on Wednesday, June 18. Travelers along the Tennessee-North Carolina border should seek alternate routes (linked below), as both westbound and eastbound lanes of I-40 were temporarily shut down.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol:
– I-40 East is redirecting at mile marker 447
– I-40 West is redirecting in North Carolina at mile marker 7
– Foothills Parkway East, running from I-40 to Cosby, TN, is temporarily closed
