Traveling can be exhausting, so sometimes it’s nice to find a one-stop spot where everyone can eat, shop, and just relax. The Island is that perfect place to go to during your next visit to Pigeon Forge. From lots of eateries, to shops, attractions, and places to sit and relax, you will find it all. You may even find yourself coming back more than once during your vacation!
Here are 6 things you should know before your visit to The Island in Pigeon Forge:
Know where to park. The main parking lot is located adjacent to the Island near the Riverwalk Trail and the beautiful LeConte Center. A tram will take you from the parking lot up to the main entrance, or if you would rather walk, enjoy the stroll along the Riverwalk Trail, watch the ducks, and soak in the beauty of the Little Pigeon River.
Bring your appetite. You will find some of the tastiest snack spots throughout the Island. Be sure to try Poynor’s Pommes Frites for their amazing Belgium fries and dipping sauces, The Fudgery for some homemade rocky road fudge or a chocolate covered apple, Island Yogurt for some of the best froyo around, and Margaritaville Coffee if you are needing a caffeine boost.
7D Dark Adventure Ride. This seven-dimensional shooting game has full motion seats and is a favorite for all ages. You can choose from three different ride/game options, but the zombie challenge seems to be quite popular! It also makes for a fun family competition to see who can get the highest score.
Watch the fountains show. The fountains at the Island are a great spot to sit, relax, and take it all in. The fountains are located at the center of the Island and come alive to music every half hour. Whether you hang out in the rockers or watch from afar, their beauty is captivating and relaxing!
The Escape Game. This is a super fun family bonding experience! Choose your challenge, then get ready to be locked in a room together. The timer is set for one hour and you must use team work to complete tasks and ultimately escape. Think you can do it?
The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. The “Wheel” as it is known, is an iconic piece of the Island, standing at 200 ft tall. The glass enclosed gondolas are climate controlled and offer some of the best views of the Great Smoky Mountains. Whether you choose to take a ride during the day or at night, you will not be disappointed. Even if you choose not to ride, the Wheel is a great central location/meeting spot for everyone when it is time to regroup after your busy day!
