Riverstone Resort and Spa
Recreation, Relaxation, and Recharging!
Our family spent Christmas in the Smokies this year and we knew with a lengthy stay that we needed to stay somewhere that would allow us some of the luxuries of home, ie a kitchen and also a place that would have some activities for the kids. Well, Riverstone Resort did not disappoint! These fine, luxurious condos have it all.
Resort: We stayed in a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom condo which allowed the little divas to each have their own room as well as a nice big master bedroom for mom and dad. Each of the bedrooms was complete with a king size bed and TV, so there was no fighting over which TV show we were going to watch and Jellybean and Peanut felt like a princess in their own bed! The master bathroom made bathtime fun with its whirlpool tub and very large walk-in shower. Our living room was comfortable and cozy with a stone fireplace powered by gas logs and a big flat screen TV above the fireplace. The fireplace got lots of use while we were there!!! Santa found a spot on the buffet in the dining area to leave his presents and stockings for the little divas. Mommy was in heaven with the nice big kitchen with granite countertops and a nice long bar which the girls loved sitting at for breakfast and nightly rounds of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Our balcony overlooked the Little Pigeon River and we left our sliding glass doors open several times just to hear the sounds of the water running downstream.
Recreation: The large Club House on site houses an indoor heated pool/hot tub/kiddie pool, a fully equipped fitness center, and a game room with plenty of arcade games and vending machines. We forgot to pack swimsuits because it was winter but managed to find some at the local Walmart!! There is also an outdoor lazy river but it is only open from May to September. Another spot we found to let Jellybean and Peanut run off some energy was the outdoor playground that had lots of slides, swings, and plenty of spaces for climbing. Unfortunately the outdoor temperatures did not allow us to take advantage of the outdoor grills and picnic tables, but I can imagine it would be a perfect spot in the spring and summer.
Gatlinburg Golf course is a premier 18 hole golf course and is located behind the Riverstone property. There are no avid golfers in our family so we just enjoyed looking at the beautifully landscaped greens.
Relaxation/Recharging: Every mom and even dad needs a little relaxation after packing and planning for a vacation. The Spa at Riverstone deserves a post to itself, so stay tuned!!! I’ll just give you a hint that my chocolate mint pedicure was heavenly!
Our family felt so at home during our week long stay at Riverstone Resort!!! It is located on the outer edge of town which made it convenient for our trip to Dollywood, the Christmas show at Dixie Stampede, and even a family walk along the Little Pigeon River on Christmas Day!
