Tourist Tuesday: July 9
Independence Day weekend is always a popular time for guests to plan vacations to Pigeon Forge. That held true this past weekend for our featured Tourist Tuesday guests Eddie and Cristi from Pickens, South Carolina.
Eddie and Cristi came in on Thursday, July 4th, and their trip certainly had some excitement.
“We came for vacation and ended up getting married on Friday,” Cristi said. “We have been planning on getting married for a while now though,” Eddie said.
The newlyweds said they got married at a chapel very close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near to where they’re staying.
“We come down here to Pigeon Forge everyday though,” Cristi said. “We’ve done all kinds of stuff, but today we’re going to Dollywood.”
The couple told me that they had been to see the Lumberjack Feud dinner show. “The food was pretty good and the show was great,” Cristi said. “We couldn’t decide between Dixie Stampede or Lumberjack but he had been to Dixie before already, plus he really liked the saws and axes.”
We talked a little bit about how Pigeon Forge had become famous for its candy when Eddie told me that they had bought nearly a pound of fudge at the shops around the Old Mill Square. “We’re leaving Tuesday night so we’ll plan on doing a few more things before then. We might go to the Comedy Barn tonight,” Eddie said.
As surprising as it sounds to get married while on vacation, it’s certainly understandable. Who wouldn’t want to get married in one of the most beautiful places in the world? Afterwards, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better place to honeymoon than Pigeon Forge…just ask Eddie and Cristi!
