Although the fall season just started, and soon we will be gazing at leaves changing into their beautiful colors, winter is hiding in the background and making plans for its entrance in a few months. Pigeon Forge helps make winter’s entrance more grand by lighting up the town with over 5 million lights! It is a Pigeon Forge event that gets better year after year. The 28th annual Pigeon Forge Winterfest kickoff will be on November 7, 2017 and Winterfest will run through February 2018.
Now is the perfect time to start making your own plans to get to Pigeon Forge to experience this winter event. Get the oil changed in your car, book lodging, and get the excitement flowing with the family. The kickoff event will be held at Patriot Park with food, fun, and activities for the whole family to enjoy. However, the best part is when the switch is flipped and all the lights begin their glow. The town looks spectacular!
The best way to see and take it all in is to do the Winterfest Driving Tour of Lights. On your way into town, grab a map from the Welcome Center or stop by the Trolley office. Follow the route that begins at the north end of the Parkway to see each and every light. There will be glowing Smoky Mountain critters, huge Christmas trees, patriotic displays in Patriot Park, a snowflake lane, and much more. There are lights, lights, and more lights! It makes for a great evening of fellowship and holiday fun with the family.
Winterfest is not only about the beautiful Pigeon Forge Christmas lights but also about some special holiday shows and other winter activities. Dollywood lights up with over 4 million lights of its own for their Smoky Mountain Christmas and showcases several heartwarming holiday shows along with a very special nightly parade, the Parade of Many Colors. The bridge entrance into the Old Mill Square will be covered with lights and will make for a beautiful entry into the area where you will also see the Old Mill all lit up and can grab some delicious holiday meals. Christmas at the Titanic will be breathtaking as the grand staircase will be decorated with beautiful Christmas décor from its era. The Island will be decked out for the season including the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel and will be the perfect spot to do some holiday shopping. Don’t forget to check out the holiday show at Dixie Stampede along with their 60 ft tall decorated Christmas tree. Country Tonite, Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Show, along with Smoky Mountain Opry and Comedy Barn will bring the holidays to their stages too with their own renditions of festive cheer.
The wonderful world of Winterfest is coming to Pigeon Forge!! Are you ready for it?
